The Central Bank of Armenia has reminded legal entities and individual entrepreneurs providing crypto-asset services in Armenia about their registration and licensing obligations.
According to the Central Bank's reminder, organizations and individual entrepreneurs that were already providing crypto-asset services in Armenia when the Law on Crypto-Assets entered into force on July 4, 2025, and intend to continue their activities, must comply with the registration and licensing requirements established by the Central Bank.
Who Must Register and Obtain a License?
The requirement applies to legal entities and individual entrepreneurs that were providing crypto-asset services in Armenia as of July 4, 2025, and intend to continue operating in this sector.
They must register and obtain a license from the Central Bank of Armenia by January 31, 2027 in order to continue providing crypto-asset services.
This gives existing service providers a transitional period to bring their operations into compliance with the new regulatory framework.
What Happens After January 31, 2027?
According to the Central Bank's reminder, after January 31, 2027, providing or offering crypto-asset services in Armenia without the required registration and license will no longer be permitted.
This is an important development for companies operating in Armenia's crypto market, as service providers need to ensure that their activities comply with the applicable regulatory requirements before the deadline.
Central Bank Encourages Providers Not to Delay
The registration and licensing process may require the preparation of relevant documents and completion of established procedures.
For this reason, the Central Bank encourages interested parties not to leave the process until the final stage of the transition period and to begin preparing and submitting the necessary documents as early as possible.
What Does This Mean for Armenia's Crypto Market?
The introduction of a clearer regulatory framework means that crypto-asset service providers operating in Armenia will need to comply with specific legal and supervisory requirements.
For companies, this means paying attention to licensing conditions, documentation requirements, and other rules established by the Central Bank.
For crypto users, it is also important to understand the legal status of the companies they use and what services those providers are authorized to offer.
What Should Users Consider When Using Crypto Services?
If you use crypto-asset exchange, transfer, or other related services in Armenia, it is important to check the legal status of the service provider and understand the terms under which the service operates.
Users should also consider factors such as transaction conditions, applicable fees, the blockchain network being used, and the conditions for storing or transferring digital assets.
